What a great time in Africa! We have an amazing 12 days in Zambia working on two separate Seeds projects. God has blessed both these efforts. Project Seedbag is under the amazing direction of Cheryl-Ann Johnson, and she took on double duty by organizing travel, accommodation and food for our two-pronged team that arrived from Canada. Brothers, Bruce and Peter Mason came to Africa with one goal in mind – raise two church buildings from the ground in one week, and with God’s help and a lot of dusty hard work they made it happen. These structures were part of the Seeds Lighthouse program and it was such an honour and a blessing to see them rise into the air. They will be wonderful places of worship and the Word over the next many years. The Lighthouses were designated two separate rural locations about 8 hours apart on Zambian roads. The first was put up in Kafue Gorge in the Southern province of Zambai. Pastor Priscilla has been ministering there for the last 7 years holding services for her growing church in one small school classroom. She wept as the structure was finished. (see photos) In Undi, Pastor Miti was overwhelmed by watching his congregations new church literally rise from the dust (see video). Bruce Mason said the highlight of his trip was being the first person to preach in the new Lighthouse Structure in Undi. The mason brothers arrived there on Thrusday, put the building up on Friday and Saturday and shared the first service on Sunday – God is Great! On the final day, just as construction completed, the heavens opened and the rains came pouring down like a baptism. As the ladies of the community were running for cover in the new church, the Mason boys went and stood in the refreshing shower as God put a rainbow over top of the new church (see photo) Our video efforts were equally blessed as we shot over 6 days for the newest Seeds Production, The White Robe. We were privileged to work with a group of young talented Zambian actors who truly gave their best and all to make the show amazing. We can’t wait to get back to Canada and edit the footage into another touring show for Seeds starring Dave and Nancy Seiling. We enjoyed the help of Cheryl-Ann, and our two local Seedlings Coordinators: Sally and Crispin. They were all a true treat to work with. Cheryl-Ann and her team have been keeping the Seedlings motor running, and we have a great reputation as an effective tool for children in the community and local school programs due to their efforts. They minister in about 100 schools here each year, and there is a lot of room for expansion as teachers and headmaster are constantly asking our workers to start in their schools. Bruce Mason and myself have been invited by Chief Bishop Harrison Sakala to return next August to present Seeds and Seedlings to over 100 of the most influential pastors of the Assemblies of God in Zambia (PAOGZ). Sakala is very keen on seeing Seedlings grow into more schools across the country, and wants to put his support behind the whole project. He has told us that he believes that Seedligns should become a truly Zambian effort, “We need our churches to make this ours”, he said. This is a relationship we have been hoping and praying for. We are now working on a 2.5 year plan of promotion and development that will culminate in the presentation of Seedlings as a PAOGZ ministry at their National Conference in 2012. This is very exciting and fits directly into our original 10 year plan of making the ministry indigenous. God is so Good!
